Why it's done this way
Discolouration on modern render is almost never dirt. It is a living biofilm — algae, lichen, mould and fungi with roots running into the top few millimetres of the finish. Pressure removes the visible top layer and leaves the roots, which is why pressure-washed render greens up again within a season. Softwashing kills the colony at the root, so the surface stays clean for far longer.

The treatment keeps working after we leave. Most elevations continue lightening for one to three weeks.

Will softwashing damage the render finish?
No. There is no mechanical action on the surface — the cleaning is chemical, not pressure. That is exactly why it suits K-Rend, monocouche and painted walls, where pressure washing risks etching and patching.
How long before the wall looks clean?
Some lift is visible on the day, but the treatment keeps working. Most elevations continue to lighten over one to three weeks as the dead biofilm weathers off.
How long will it stay clean?
Typically up to two years, depending on exposure. North-facing walls, properties under trees and damp sites regrow faster.
Is it safe for my planting?
Yes, when applied correctly. We use biodegradable solutions, protect planting before starting and rinse afterwards. Keep people, pets and wildlife away from treated surfaces until completely dry.
