Why it's done this way

Moss holds water against the tile, lifts and displaces it, and sheds debris straight into the gutters. Where the tile profile can take it, we scrape or pressure wash the loose growth off first; on tiles that can't take that treatment we clear by hand. Every roof is then softwashed with biocide at low pressure, so the growth is killed off in place and weather carries the residue away over the following weeks.

We check tile type, condition, pitch and access. Fragile or failing roofs are flagged before anything is quoted.

Loose moss taken off and gutters and downpipes cleared so debris cannot block the drainage.

Treat

Low-pressure biocide across the full plane, including ridge, valleys and verges.

Weather off

Dead growth breaks down and washes away naturally over the following weeks. No second visit needed.

Questions we get on this job

Do you scrape or pressure wash the roof?

It depends on the tile. Loose moss is cleared first — scraped where the tile profile takes it, hand-cleared where it doesn't. Pressure washing a roof is on the table if the tile can genuinely handle it; on anything softer or older we don't touch it with pressure. Every roof — regardless of what came off first — is then biocided at low pressure across the full plane, so the growth is killed at the root and weather can carry the residue off.

Do I need to be home?

No, as long as we have access to the property and an outside water supply if required.

Will the gutters be blocked afterwards?

No. We clear the gutters and downpipes as part of the job so the falling debris has somewhere to go.

How often should a Galway roof be treated?

Most roofs in Galway hold up for two years or more after a softwash. Coastal, shaded and tree-lined properties may need it sooner.
