Pressure washing — Co. Westmeath

Paving back to
the colour it was.

Patios, driveways, paths and steps across Westmeath cleaned at pressure matched to the material — midland damp keeps slabs and block paving green well into summer — with jointing sand replaced where the wash lifts it.

Local context

Westmeath paving greens up on the shaded side first.

Damp midland air and long overcast spells mean patios here rarely dry out fully between showers, and any part of a driveway that sits in shade — under a hedge, along a north-facing gable, behind the garage — turns green well before the rest of it does. Cobblelock in particular traps moisture in the joints and holds moss in place.

We clean paving right across the county — Mullingar, Athlone, Moate, Kilbeggan, Kinnegad, Castlepollard and Tyrrellspass — with the pressure set to the material, not to whatever the machine happens to be set at.

01 — What's included

What the job actually covers

Patio, driveway or both — quoted as a fixed price before booking. No hidden extras, no day-rate creep.

  • Pressure and nozzle matched to the paving type, tested before the main clean
  • Weeds and moss cleared from joints, oil and tyre marks pre-treated
  • Full surface cleaned in even overlapping passes — no bands, no missed edges
  • Joints re-sanded where kiln-dried sand has washed out
  • Debris collected, gullies checked and the area rinsed down
  • Written fixed price, valid for 30 days
Why it's done this way

Hard paving is the one place where pressure genuinely is the right tool — the surface is dense, the soiling is ingrained, and the result is immediate. The judgement is in the pressure and the pattern. Too much pressure lifts jointing sand, pits soft sandstone and blows out the face of concrete slabs; uneven passes leave visible bands, which looks worse than not cleaning at all. Driveways soil unevenly too — oil in the parking bays, moss along the shaded edges, grime through the middle — so they get pre-treated before the main clean. Where a surface is too soft for pressure, we say so and softwash it instead.

05 — FAQ

Questions we get on this job

Will pressure washing damage my paving?

Not when the pressure is matched to the material. Soft sandstone, painted concrete and timber need lower pressure or softwashing — we assess and test before we start.

Can you remove oil stains completely?

Most oil lifts substantially with pre-treatment. Deep, long-standing stains in porous concrete may remain faintly visible — we say so before quoting rather than after.

Do you re-sand the joints?

Yes. Where kiln-dried sand has washed out of block paving or slab joints we re-sand as part of the job so the surface stays locked together.

Can patio and driveway be done in one visit?

Yes, and it is the cheaper way to do it — one set-up, one visit, and two or more services take 5% off the total.

How long does it take to dry?

Usually a few hours in dry weather. Avoid parking on freshly re-sanded block paving until the following day.
